U.S. Feb. existing home sales down 0.4% to 6.79 mln
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- U.S. existing home sales fell 0.4 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.79 million units in February, the National Association of Realtors said Wednesday.
Economists were expecting a decline to about 6.69 million.
The median sales price rose 11.0 percent year-over-year to $191,000.
Sales in January were revised to an increase of 0.1 percent to 6.82 million units, stronger than the initial estimate of a 0.1 percent fall to 6.80 million.
Inventories rose 10.7 percent to 2.38 million units, which represents a 4.2-month supply.
This is up from a record low 3.8-month supply in Jan.
