Dear Subscriber to TheStreet.com Stocks Under $10,

As we said earlier this morning, we now have some cash to
put to work in our One-rated names.


We will start with a 500-share purchase of Applied Micro
Circuits (AMCC:Nasdaq), which is trading at $3.67, about
15% below last week's high. A lot of investors this year
tried to get in front of the January Effect -- a
phenomenon that usually boosts the value of small-cap
stocks at the beginning of the year -- and Applied Micro
was primed to benefit according to a Bear Stearns research
note released in late December.


But the January Effect failed to materialize. So we want
to take advantage of the stock's decline given our belief
that the company is going to leverage its storage and
communications acquisitions to grow its top and bottom
lines in 2005.


We are also going to add 300 shares to our position in RAE
Systems (RAE:Amex), which is trading at 6.33. We believe
the selling this week is unwarranted and overdone because
the company should be able to leverage its sensor
technology into the homeland defense market. In February,
RAE's management will be presenting at a Kaufman Brothers
conference, and we expect the news flow to improve in the
coming months.
