Oil-service stocks jump as crude rises on the Nymex ( 10:58am

DALLAS (CBS.MW) -- Oil-service stocks reversed course in late morning trading, taking their cue from rising crude futures.
Crude and its products surged after the American Petroleum Institute said distillate inventories for the week ended Dec. 3 fell by 1.2 million barrels to total 120.8 million, contrary to the Energy Department's reported 1.4 million-barrel climb.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Index ($OSX) was up 1.3 percent at 118.76 points.




API: small rise crude stocks, fall in distillate supply (10:49am

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- The American Petroleum Institute said distillate inventories for the week ended Dec. 3 fell by 1.2 million barrels to total 120.8 million, contrary to the Energy Department's reported 1.4 million-barrel climb.
But the API confirmed a narrow rise in crude stocks, up 583,000 barrels to total 295.1 million.
Gasoline stocks were up 2.6 million barrels at 207.3 million barrels.
January crude is now up 54 cents at $42 a barrel in New York, after earlier tapping their lowest levels since late July.

The EIA's weekly oil inventories report just came out, showing an increase of 600K in crude supplies (consensus -750K) and a 1.4 mln increase distillates (consensus +1.5 mln).
