Overseas shares traded in the United States rallied on Thursday as
materials and commodities, which had been recently battered in a global
sell-off, rebounded sharply.
The Bank of New York's index of leading ADRs was up 2.3 percent at
a time when the 30-share Dow Jones industrial average was up 1 percent at
