Isonics Announces Formal Launch of Marketing for NeutroTest Explosive Detection Device; 2005 Campaign to Start with Attendance of Development Partner IUT-Berlin at IDEX 2005 International Defense Exhibition & Conference
GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 2005--Isonics Corporation (Nasdaq:ISON), committed to the development of next-generation technology for the homeland security and semiconductor markets, has announced the official commencement of its calendar 2005 domestic and international marketing efforts of its NeutroTest(TM) handheld explosive detection device. The announcement was made by Boris Rubizhevsky, President of the Isonics Homeland Security and Defense division.
Representatives of Institut fur Umwelttechnologien GmbH (IUT-Berlin), the Company's NeutroTest(TM) technology development partner, will attend the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), one of the world's largest and most important exhibitions of security and defense technology, to be held Feb. 12-17 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Representatives from IUT-Berlin will present information at the exposition about the NeutroTest(TM) portable explosive detection prototype device to officials of more than 70 national military and security delegations expected to attend the IDEX conference.
"We are excited to begin the NeutroTest(TM) marketing process," said Mr. Rubizhevsky. "Early feedback from our preliminary marketing efforts on the prototype device has made it clear that there is a real need for a handheld, portable explosive detector such as NeutroTest(TM) to assist first-responders in the evaluation of suspicious packages or suitcases for the presence of concealed explosives. We are eager to interface with decision-makers in the domestic and international security industry. IDEX, with its focus on advanced technology and systems for the military and security industry, is an excellent place to start our formal marketing of NeutroTest(TM). We believe these new marketing efforts will prepare the path for the start of future sales-related processes and activities."
Now in its seventh edition, IDEX has become one of the biggest markets for security and defense equipment in the world, resulting in millions of dollars of contracts, according to conference organizers, with more than 900 journalists and thousands of security industry professionals expected to attend.
"The attendance of Isonics' technology partner, IUT-Berlin, at the IDEX conference provides an important opportunity to explain NeutroTest's unique explosive detection features, capabilities, and applications to a variety of important potential customers and users of the device," said Mr. Rubizhevsky. "Equally important, our meetings with these officials will provide us with critical additional insights into the specific needs of various security and defense marketplaces internationally and will assist in giving direction to future marketing efforts. We look forward to building our relationships with these key decision-makers throughout the defense and security industry."
Dr. Dirk Rondeshagen, a research scientist with the IUT-Berlin, who heads the NeutroTest(TM) development program at IUT-Berlin, will attend the conference to discuss the latest NeutroTest(TM) prototype design. Isonics is developing NeutroTest(TM) at IUT-Berlin's laboratory facilities.
Attendees of the IDEX conference can find IUT-Berlin at booth 322A.
Isonics' NeutroTest(TM) is a next-generation, hand held explosive detection prototype device that uses neutron scanning technology to identify the presence of concealed explosives in packages, suitcases and other containers. The properties of neutron-based systems enable the safe scanning and detection of dangerous materials even when concealed within steel containers. NeutroTest(TM) is designed to be a modestly-priced, lightweight device that can be easily used by first responders as well as security and military personnel to evaluate suspicious packages for the presence of hidden explosives.
