Monitoring a Sharp Reversal

We are seeing quite a U-turn and I'm feeling better about my reluctance to chase the market this morning. Talk is making the rounds that a large Nasdaq 100 Trust (QQQQ:Nasdaq) trade went off this morning in error and now is being unwound. If that is the case, the unwinding is probably triggering stops as well.

It seems like an awfully cute explanation and I have my doubts if it is true or not. In any event, a sharp intraday reversal like this is sometimes indicative of a top.

If the bulls can regroup and rally a bit before the close, we will be OK. But a weak finish will get the practitioners of Japanese candlestick charting talking about reversals.
