Dito assim leva muitos a pensar que bastava duplicar salários, reformas e subsídios a todos a procura duplicava a economia crescia e teríamos o paraíso .

Os planos de austeridade baseados em impostos, por outro lado, geraram recessões agudas durante alguns anos e, em muitos casos, não reduziram a relação dívida / PIB porque o PIB encolheu.

Mário Centeno says that next year they will not raise taxes or cut expenses. Of the two, one either trusts in a very strong recovery, or is making political demagogy, because there are bills of what is happening now that have to be paid, even if diluted over time, due to the mutualisation of European public debt.
It seems that Centeno will leave the Government in the next few weeks, which makes me doubt this sentence even more, for two reasons: On the one hand, because he will want to leave with the image that, according to him, there was no need to cut anything. And, on the other hand, because it must be recognized that Centeno was able to control the typical Portuguese budget overruns (albeit through a method that is not very transparent and democratic, such as captivations).
