Maker of international food and beverage brands such as Cadbury and Kenco, Kraft Foods, has changed its name to Mondelez International, which is a coined word evoking ‘a world of delicious products’.
It is launching as a new company with events worldwide involving around 100,000 Mondelez International employees in 300 offices, research and development facilities, distribution centres and manufacturing sites.
Kraft Foods changed its name after spinning-off its North American grocery business yesterday.
“We’re making our debut as Mondelez International and unleashing a global snacking powerhouse that is uniquely positioned to delight consumers,” said Irene Rosenfeld, chairman and CEO. “We have $36bn in momentum and brands like Cadbury, Oreo and Milka that have been loved by consumers around the world for generations.”
Mondelez International has a long-standing heritage in Ireland and the UK. These include the iconic Cadbury brand and other household favourites such as Maynard, Bassetts, Kenco, Belvita, Philadelphia and Dairylea.
It employs 7,000 people across Ireland and the UK with manufacturing facilities in Coolock, Rathmore, Tallaght, Bournville, Sheffield, Banbury, Marlbrook, and Chirk.
With over $13bn in revenue, Europe represents 37pc of the activity of Mondelez International and plays a critical role in its global snacking strategy, said Tim Cofer, president for Europe.
“Mondelez International is a clear leader in the $336bn European snacking market with strong leadership positions in chocolate, biscuits, coffee, as well as gum and candy.
“Already number 1 in ten key countries, we are uniquely positioned to deliver top-tier performance in the challenging economic environment.”
