"Very solid freakout. Well-done panic. Encapsulates the good and the bad. Takes down Visa (V - commentary - Trade Now) even though MasterCard (MA - commentary - Trade Now) shows that the business is hot. Ignores all good drug stocks except the ones directly in front of them: Bristol-Myers (BMY - commentary - Trade Now), Merck (MRK - commentary - Trade Now), Pfizer (PFE - commentary - Trade Now). Sloughs off all industrial gains as if everything depends on the contagion. Right out of the 1997 playbook.

Except we are strong and they are weak. We are getting better and they aren't doing anything.

To buy is to be glib, as the drumbeat of contagion is everywhere -- like it's revelatory.

I have said over and over again that the sick men of Europe will create endless buying opportunities. When they happen, you get endless sellers who are now fearful of Luxembourg or San Marino or Crete. Maybe Malta. Certainly the Azores and the Isle of Man. Those who still own Santander (STD - commentary - Trade Now) now can't take it. They think they own RBS (RBS - commentary - Trade Now). Maybe they do.

Meanwhile Intel (INTC - commentary - Trade Now) is back to where it reports an unbelievable number. Marathon (MRO - commentary - Trade Now) doesn't disappoint. Steve Madden's (SHOO - commentary - Trade Now) amazing.

Like these are dependent upon the Iberian peninsula. The Ironbound district in Newark is more dependent.

Sometimes I wish I could be the editor of the Boom Gloom Dead and Gone Report, or maybe the Apocalypse Now Report if I could get that copyright. Maybe the Maggot Report or the Death and Destruction Report.

Then I would never be wrong. And I would be interviewed all of the time. I would develop an accent. Maybe go for a Nobel.

Instead, my lot in life is to try to make money. What a bummer. Makes days like today compelling, though.

Hey, maybe Barry Maguire will let me use Eve of Destruction Report. Then I could be Googled and trick people into reading me.
