THE IRISH TIMES
- The 11 banks covered by Ireland's guarantee scheme will
pay 1 billion euros ($1.37 billion) over two years to be covered
by the deal
- EU leaders have given Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen
until December to come up with a possible solution to the
dilemma caused by Ireland's rejection of the Lisbon Treaty
- Irish President Mary McAleese and Irish Centrel Bank
Governor John Hurley will both take a 10 percent pay cut
following this week's belt-tightening budget
- Oasis will head the bill at next June's concert at Slane
Castle in County Meath

IRISH INDEPENDENT
- Senior bank executives in Ireland will have their pay and
bonuses slashed under the country's guarantee scheme, with
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan saying he believes 500,000 euros
to be sufficient
- Barn owls and quails are among 25 breeds of bird on
Ireland's endangered list

IRISH EXAMINER
- Ireland's Electricity Supply Board is to build a 500

O Paquistão já é, há muitos anos, um país à beira da bancarrota. A crise em nada altera o que sempre foi.

O Dubai aparece referenciado como estando em maus lençóis.

Mas o que fará as headlines muito em breve parece ser a Hungria. Há já grandes dificuldades, o país não consegue colocar a sua dívida e já há conversações com o FMI as quais incluem discussões sobre ajuda financeira.

Irlanda?

Lá para os lados do Temple Bar não se nota crise nenhuma... Hectolitros de Guiness continuam a correr pelas goelas abaixo e continua tudo na maior.

Depois de terem atraído para lá as sedes europeias de muitas multinacionais americanas de techs, software e biotechs, agora estão a tirar partido da crise para atrair as financeiras com condições aliciantes.

Até os bancos ingleses se queixam que estão a perder clientes para a Irlanda depois do governo irlandês ter garantido so depósitos a 100%, sem limites.

Tomáramos nós estar na crise deles.

PS: se a Islândia estivesse no Euro isto não lhes tinha acontecido. É a nossa sorte!

Engraçado, engraçadíssimo mesmo, é eu lemrar-me agora daquilo que foi o endeusamento que por aqui passou repetidamente sobre a economia irlandesa nos últimos anos. A Irlanda era o supra-sumo, o modelo económico a seguir por Portugal, um verdadeiro milagre que nós, pobres lusos das cavernas, devíamos admirar, reverenciar e seguir cegamente. Afinal, o deus irlandês tinha os pés de barro. E de um barro tão pastoso que até deu para atascar. Também em economia, o que hoje é verdade amanhã é mentira.

Li isso num tipo que por acaso de vez enquanto me contacta. As bases que ele lá descreve até tá bem elaborado e os fundamentos para essa razão até são fundados mas o Dubai cair neste abismo seria interessante...

Another recession gripped state is Dubai, it May Need Help from Abu Dhabi to Repay Debts,and the federal government of the United Arab Emirates to help pay for a surge in borrowing ...Government-controlled companies owe at least $47 billion in total, more than Dubai's gross domestic product, Dubai has borrowed to fund real estate projects including Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower, and to buy stakes in Deutsche Bank AG, European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. and Standard Chartered Plc, as it seeks to reduce dependence on its dwindling oil reserves.

Dubai World, a state-owned holding company, acquired almost 10 percent of Kirk Kerkorian's MGM Mirage last year for about $5.1 billion. MGM shares have since tumbled to $16.80 from $84 when the deal was agreed.Deutsche Bank shares have fallen nearly 70 percent since Dubai government-owned DIFC Investments bought a 2.2 percent stake for about $1.8 billion in May 2007.

Dubai controls its economy through state-owned companies that dominate each major industry. Dubai Holding LLC, which groups assets belonging to Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, owns hotel chain Jumeirah Group and Dubai International Capital, which unsuccessfully bid for Liverpool Football Club earlier this year.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the two-largest emirates in the seven-member U.A.E.
Both these Nations have large assets in Europe and as a consequence of their financial shut down we may now see a snowball effect on some Economies such as... Britain. ... "

Engraçado como toda a gente ignorou completamente o link que aqui tinha deixado, ainda antes da Islândia, sobre o Paquistão.

Que é que isso interessa realmente? É só uma potência nuclear, decerto conseguirá vender umas ogivas para pagar a dívida...

Eu apostava na Irlanda.
A bolsa irlandesa perdeu 69,9% em 12 meses, até ao dia 10 de Outubro, e só foi batida pela Islândia que perdeu 88% no mesmo periodo de tempo.

Já li por aí que o DUBAI pode estar á beira de um Crash.........a Irlanda também continua aflita......e Portugal ? será que vamos chegar a esse extremo algum dia ? 20 mil milhões de ajuda é muita fruta.....
