Aumento dos preços da pasta de papel.
NEW YORK, Aug 15 (Reuters) - North American paper producers are gearing up for an autumn price hike, as costs keep increasing, according to Deutsche Bank analyst Mark Wilde.
Boise Cascade LLC, the fourth-largest North American producer, has recently announced a $40 per ton hike for an array of uncoated free sheet papers, effective Sept. 12, Wilde wrote in a note to investors published Tuesday.
The Boise announcement covers both cut-size, used as copier paper, and offset paper as well as opaque and colored papers and reply card stock, Wilde said in his report.
"The move is not a surprise, considering reasonably snug supplies and continued cost pressures," Wilde wrote.
He noted that costs for pulp -- used to make paper -- are still rising.
White paper mills that purchase pulp on the open market are struggling just to reach cash break-even, he reported.
Prices of pulp futures in New York have straddled contract highs over the past several weeks, thanks to robust demand. That physical demand has risen in anticipation of rising cash prices, traders say.
Weyerhaeuser Co. (WY.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the No. 2 North American producer has reportedly pushed back its August price hike to September, while top producer International Paper Co. (IP.N: Quote, Profile, Research) is reportedly close to an announcement, probably for late September or Oct. 1, Wilde wrote.
