LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The ZEW Indicator of economic sentiment for Germany dropped 12.2 points in June from May to 37.8, a measure only slightly above its historical average of 35.3 points.
Economists had expected a decline to 45 points.
The high oil price, the European Central Bank's expected policy of increasing interest rates and the strong euro dented confidence of the 303 analysts and institutional investors it polled, ZEW said.
The euro was a touch weaker against the U.S. dollar after the release
