HUGIN NEWS/Gross dividend of 50 cents per share approved
Julien De Wilde appointed as new member of the Board of Directors
Annual General Meeting
Mortsel / Belgium, April 25, 2006 - 1.20 p.m. CET
At Agfa's General Meeting today, shareholders approved the payment of a gross dividend of 50 cents per outstanding share. The share will be listed ex-coupon as of April 26, 2006.
Shareholders also approved the reappointment of John Buttrick and Christian Leysen as members of the Board of Directors and the appointment of Julien De Wilde as a new independent Director. All were appointed for a 3-year period, to come into effect today.
Julien De Wilde is CEO at the Bekaert Group. He also is honorary chairman of the Board of Directors of Agoria and an independent director at Telenet Group Holding. During his career at Alcatel, Julien De Wilde held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel Bell. He also held the position of Executive Vice President of Alcatel Europe, Middle East, Africa and India and he was a member of the global Alcatel Executive Committee. Before joining Alcatel, Julien De Wilde held various senior positions at Texaco Belgium and in the European Management Board of Texaco Europe.
Marc Olivié, Agfa's President of the Executive Committee and CEO, commented on the progress of the business since the beginning of the year: "As a high-tech company, Agfa constantly has to anticipate changing market conditions. Like many other companies, Agfa has to contend with the sharp increases in raw material costs. In spite of these external influences and the fact that the effect of our recent price increases is not yet visible, sales increased with 8% and the EBIT also experienced a positive evolution compared to the first quarter of 2005. The upward trend in sales shows that the business groups are following the right strategies for the success of their businesses.
The Agfa-Gevaert first quarter results will be announced on May 17, 2006, before the stock market opens.
