UMich Sept. sentiment remains at low level in late September
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Consumer sentiment remained at low levels in late September, according to media reports Friday of proprietary research from the University of Michigan.
The UMich consumer sentiment index was unchanged at 76.9 in late September, the same as the initial reading earlier in the month.
Economists were expecting the index to rebound slightly, after falling sharply from the 89.1 level in August in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
