Indices continue to languish near their lows as oil prices continue to climb following the Energy Dept.'s weekly oil data...
Crude oil futures ($46.15/bbl +$0.75), which were off roughly 0.5% ahead of the report, have rebounded (+1.7%) after crude oil inventories fell 1.0 mln barrels, versus analysts' forecasts of a 500K barrel increase, distillate stockpiles fell 3.0 mln barrels, more than the anticipated 2.0 mln barrel decline, and gasoline inventories rose just 500K barrels, less than an expected increase of 1.0 mln barrels...

API report on U.S. supplies adds to bullish sentiment
DALLAS (MarketWatch) -- On the heels of a bullish Energy Department report on U.S. supplies, the American Petroleum Institute said crude stores fell by 4.2 million barrels in the latest week. The Energy Department said crude inventories were down by 1 million barrels. The March crude contract jumped 80 cents, or almost 2 percent, to $46.20 a barrel. Also, the API said distillate supplies fell by 4.2 million barrels vs. the 3-million barrel drop reported by the Energy Department. The March heating oil contract gained 3.8 cents to $1.284 a gallon.

Crude recovers on bullish Energy Dept. report
DALLAS (MarketWatch) -- Bucking expectations, the Energy Department reported a 1 million barrel decline in crude supplies, sending the March contract back to $45.50 a barrel, up 10 cents. The government data also showed that distillate inventories fell by 3 million barrels, and gasoline supplies rose by 500,000 barrels for the week ended Feb. 4.
