U.S. stocks open lower, pulled down by chip sector

NEW YORK, Jan 11 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened lower on Tuesday, weighed down by a batch of disappointing earnings news, including a sales warning from chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. that came ahead of results from sector bellwether Intel Corp. .
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 25.27 points, or 0.24 percent, at 10,595.76. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 3.49 points, or 0.29 percent, at 1,186.76. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was down 8.78 points, or 0.42 percent, at 2,088.26. ((Reporting by Michael Flaherty
