FDA Grants Wider Use Of Sanofi-Aventis Colon Cancer Drug
Enviado: 5/11/2004 23:00The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted wider use of a colon-cancer drug made by Sanofi-Aventis (SNY) to treat an earlier stage of the disease.
The drug, known as Eloxatin, has been on the U.S. market for about two years to treat metastatic colon cancer, or cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. Eloxatin now can be used to treat colon cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes, or stage III cancer. Cancer that hasn't spread beyond the colon is typically removed by surgery alone.
