Taser was the subject of a probe into statements about the safety of its stun gun products, which have been linked in the press to fatalities when deployed by police. The company was also being investigated in connection with a big contract that closed just prior to the end of a financial reporting period and struck some critics as well-timed.
Taser said the SEC's staff "has completed the previously announced investigation into Taser International's disclosures concerning the medical safety of the Taser device; and certain accounting and disclosure issues. The staff further advised that it has determined that at the present time it will not recommend that the commission institute any enforcement proceedings as to any of these matters.
"The staff also advised the company that it is continuing to investigate issues relating to trading in the company's stock," Taser said.

NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Taser International Inc. (TASR.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Wednesday third-quarter profit fell a worse-than-expected 95 percent as sales of its stun guns plunged on concerns about their safety.
Taser, which has faced a barrage of lawsuits and bad publicity over deaths linked to its weapons, reported quarterly profit of $270,945, or nil per share. That compares with $6.1 million, or 9 cents per share, a year earlier.
Sales of its weapons, which are widely used by U.S. police departments, fell 38 percent to $11.7 million from $18.9 million a year ago.
Results fell below Wall Street's forecast of 1 cent per share earnings and $13.5 million revenue.
Taser's shares were trading at $6.86 in premarket activity on the Inet electronic brokerage system, down from a close of $6.97 on Nasdaq on Tuesday.
The shares hit a two-year low earlier this month and are down 78 percent this year, compared with a 1 percent fall in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index .
The sharp decline in profit comes as Taser undergoes an investigation by securities regulators and faces lingering concern over the safety of its weapons.
After a number of deaths of Taser victims, the company has launched Taser Cam, an attachment to its weapons that records audio and video footage of the gun's usage, designed to prevent misuse.
Taser's weapons, which disable victims with a 50,000-volt shock, have been linked to more than 100 deaths since 2001, according to human rights group Amnesty International. Taser has faced a number of wrongful death lawsuits from families of victims, but none has been successful.
The company says its "non-lethal" weapons actually save lives when used by police officers as an alternative to guns.
