Credit Suisse First Boston upgraded PortalPlayer (nasdaq: PLAY - news - people ) to "outperform" from "neutral," citing the semiconductor company's dominant market share and valuation that doesn't reflect upside potential. "Our updated checks of online retailers show PortalPlayer’s designs still occupy 57% of retailers’ top seller lists, largely unchanged from February," CSFB said. The research firm said Apple Computer (nasdaq: AAPL - news - people ) could launch a new flash-memory-based device and multimedia device using PortalPlayer's solution ahead of the holiday season. A successful ramp to 25% of flash market volume in the second half of 2005 would drive $25 million to $30 million revenue and 25 cents to 30 cents upside to estimates, according to CSFB. The research firm said PortalPlayer's current share price reflects risk but not upside potential. The stock is trading at 16 times 2005 earnings, which is below the peer group of 27 times earnings. CSFB reiterated a $25 target price on PortalPlayer.
