Dear Action Alerts PLUS Subscriber,

I am going to buy 500 shares of PNC (PNC:NYSE) here at
$54.75. This will take my total position up to 4,000 shares.

The company is scheduled to report earnings before the open
on Friday, and I expect the regional banker to announce
decent numbers. In addition, the stock's 3.7% yield and low
earnings multiple make it an attractive holding when the
market is crowded with sellers.

Regards,

James J. Cramer

Dear Action Alerts PLUS Subscriber,

Part of the reason I rate stocks as Threes and Fours in my
Weekly Roundup is so that you readers can sell positions
that I have to hold due to my trading restrictions. This
morning, JDS Uniphase (JDSU:Nasdaq) and Charter
(CHTR:Nasdaq), two of my worst-performing and longest-
running Three- and Four-rated positions, are out with
negative news. I am not taking any action, and hope you
readers acted on my earlier warnings that these positions
were headed lower.

First, JDS Uniphase lowered its fiscal second-quarter
earnings outlook, citing weakness with its consumer
businesses. I long have said that CEO Kevin Kennedy needs
to divest this segment because it weighs down the strong
markets the company sells into, like the regional Bell
companies that are spending billions on fiber-to-the-
premises (FTTP). He didn't. Now the stock is going to take
a hit.

Now Charter CEO Carl Vogel, a man I have supported for
having a great business sense but who has been constrained
by the financially inept Paul Allen, is stepping down. I am
not tempted to add to this Four-rated stock no matter where
it opens, because I expect more tough quarters ahead and
questions to arise regarding its liquidity.

Regards,

James J. Cramer
